Arrival in the UK

We made it! The trip across the pond was great. I don't think anyone slept much at all - I don't know if that was from excitement or from being scrunched into airplane seats that were not too comfortable! But, no matter, we're here and that's what counts.

When we got off the plane and through customs John and Molly were there to meet us. It was great to see them both. John got us all loaded on the motorcoach and headed off to Leeds. He had the microphone on the bus and entertained us well with facts about the places we were passing.

I asked some of the singers what their first impression of England was and this is what they had to say:

Marcia Dawson: It was great meeting John as we exited customs and immigration and realizing that our first (but not last) Sing Live Tour to the UK was off to a great start.

George and LeJeune Smith - Green everywhere! Not like my front yard right now. Rolling terrain with stone fences - most everything looks old, even if it is new. I've been here three hours, but I'm not awake yet!

Barbara and Juan Saldarriaga - The countryside is lush and green. Wonderful coming out of the airport and seeing John's smiling face as he greeted us. We're sleepy, but thrilled to be here.

Sarah Thompson - My first impression on the coach ride from the airport to Leeds is that there are no "Billboards" on the highway and everything is green with a little color (flowers) sprinkled in.

Barbara Watson - The shock of the cooler temperature was a relief from the Orlando summer heat. I was surprised with the price of gas - and we complain.

Elaine Zurowski- My first impressions of England is the lush green countryside with homes and communities lining the hills. It seems we're so close to the country even when we're downtown!

Marie Brancato - My first impression of England was how green and lush the hills of Yorkshire looked as the sun broke out of the clouds hovering over Manchester. The sheep on the hillsides along the motorway gave a warm welcome to this tired traveler.

Marge Gehring - The green rolling hills are beautiful. The sheep that we see on the hills are black faced and have blue or red sprayed on their backs so that the farmers can tell who they belong to.

Kathleen Devitt- This is my fifth trip to England. It's good to be back and it feels like home.

Jenn Cowin- Party in Leeds!

Richard McKee- England is so GREEN!

Shelby McKee- What I noticed the most were people driving on the left hand side of the road- and seeing the drivers on the wrong side of the car.

Dave Andrews- How will I ever learn the language?

Marcia Bowen- Just to see green grass again- and horses! Nothing like Orlando!

Sounds like a great start to a great and historic trip! Enjoy everything y'all do over there and we'll be thinking of you as we trudge through the next week and a half of the 2008 Central Florida Heat & Humidity Fest.

Just a quick note to all you USA travellers who've come over to visit - welcome! It's so exciting to all us Brits that you're here - can't wait to sing with you at the weekend. Have a great time, and hopefully you'll take back a little piece of England with you to share with all your buddies at Sing Live USA.

Hello to Jeri, Kevin, John, and everyone in the UK,

Even though the entire Tampa Sing Live ensemble is missing you all desperately, I'm delighted to see that you are thoroughly enjoying yourselves! Please tell everyone there how grateful we are that they are willing to share John with us. And when you are tired of being cold, come home to the Sunshine State, where we'll be waiting to welcome you back with open arms and tight harmonies!

Sing out, Louise!
